On Wednesday, the Buckeyes hosted defensive end Darren Ikinnagbon for his first Ohio State visit. He told Bucknuts he was really impressed.

“I got to meet coach (Ryan) Day and coach (Jim) Knowles,” Ikinnagbon explained. “I got to sit in the meeting room before practice. Then I observed practice. The defense really went after it. It was a learning experience. I learned some new skills from Larry Johnson. It was a positive experience.

Ohio State’s first entry to the transfer portal this summer was interesting. The Buckeyes will welcome back guard Meechie Johnson, who spent two years at South Carolina.

The Cleveland native and lifelong Scarlet and Gray supporter attended Ohio State for a year and a half after reclassifying to the 2020 recruiting class and enrolling midway through the season. Johnson averaged 3.2 points per game on 31.9 percent shooting in 43 Buckeye games, but he returns to Columbus as a different player than when he departed.

Johnson was still in the early stages of his collegiate career during his first tenure in Columbus, and based on what he shown in two years at Columbia, he may have been held back to some extent. He was part of the offense rather than the go-to player, with only 3.2 shots per game.

Johnson developed into the player the Scarlet and Gary recruited out of high school while at South Carolina. He averaged 13.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. He was South Carolina’s highest scorer this season, averaging 14.1 points and helping the Gamecocks win the most games (26) since 2016-17, when USC last entered the NCAA Tournament.

The 2025 recruiting cycle is officially underway, with some of the country’s top high school football players already revealing their college selections.

During the week of March 29-April 4, 29 athletes committed to a Power Four college football program, including 27 2025 recruits and two underclassmen. The group includes nine four-star prospects, led by six players ranked in the top 100 nationally.

With that in mind, scroll down to see which prospects committed to a Power Four program in the last week, beginning with the 2025 prospects and ending with the underclassmen.
