Though the Baltimore Ravens’ 156.4 rushing yards this past season established a league record, it wouldn’t be surprising if they sought a well-known running back in free agency.

“Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that some people with knowledge of league personnel believe the Ravens will target a running back with pedigree in free agency.” “Baltimore has a few tough salary cap decisions but should be able to keep most of its veteran base intact.”

RBs Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins are both unrestricted free agents. The season was cut short for former second-round pick Dobbins due to an Achilles tear sustained in Week 1 against the Houston Texans. He missed nine games in 2022 due to his left knee injury, which sidelined him for the whole 2021 campaign.

Rumor had it that the Ravens were interested in two-time champion Derrick Henry before the trade deadline. About to enter free agency in March, the talented Tennessee Titans star recently stated that he hopes to be in a position to win his first Super Bowl.

The Ravens are expected by Spotrac to be $827.55K over the cap, but they will have more cap room if they release cornerback Marlon Humphrey and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. Spotrac values the one-year contract at $10.3 million based on Henry’s reasonable market value.
By adding a premier back, QB Lamar Jackson is further shielded. At 9.3 carries per game on average, the two-time league MVP tied for the second-fewest rushing attempts of his career. Consequently, he didn’t miss any games due to injuries.

Despite losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, the Ravens could be one play away from capturing their first Super Bowl since 2012. DraftKings gives them the third-best Super Bowl LIX odds (+900).
