During NBA All-Star Weekend, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is giving a cap tip to a different Western Conference team. Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Durant, are now playing as well as any team in the NBA.

 

Durant, who is enjoying an incredible year himself, is bestowing the high praise. In addition to scoring more than 28 points per game this season for the Suns, the seasoned NBA veteran just overtook Moses Malone on the NBA all-time scoring chart. Since joining the Brooklyn Nets in 2022–2023–Durant is enjoying his finest offensive season to date. With a 33-22 record, good for fifth place in the Western Conference, the forward has helped Phoenix rise.

In the West, the Clippers are in direct advance of the Suns. With a 36-17 record thus far in the season, Los Angeles is now ranked third in the Western Conference. For the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard is scoring over 24 points per game on average while shooting about 53 percent from the field. Due to a shoulder ailment, Leonard might not be able to play in the All-Star game. He was chosen as a reserve for the Western Conference squad.

This year’s All-Star Weekend is seeing a lot of players get recognized. The standout guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards, said on Friday that Durant is his all-time favorite NBA player. The Suns forward is a starter in the Western Conference All-Star team as well. During All-Star weekend, Durant even took some time to discuss his longstanding bond with singer Drake.
