Spencer Rattler ought to be high on the Broncos’ draft board, as was mentioned here after his impressive performance at the Senior Bowl.
Rattler should not be selected by the club at No. 12 overall because it is too high, but if they select a player like Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr. there, they are not playing to their full potential because they will not receive an additional draft pick.
Rattler was ranked as the top prospect in the country upon graduating from high school. He was rated higher than a number of players, including Sam Howell, Penix, and Jayden Daniels. He ultimately sat behind current Eagles starter Jalen Hurts at Oklahoma. However, he was the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and be the first overall choice in the draft when he took over as the Sooners’ starting in 2022.

Despite being benched at Oklahoma because he failed to live up to the hype, he wasn’t benched for anyone in particular. Caleb Williams, who is presently expected to be the first overall choice in this year’s draft, was benched in his place.

Was Rattler simply too good? Has he suddenly become untalented? Or did he simply not fit the circumstances he was in? After that, he transferred to South Carolina, where, in two seasons, he completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 6,212 yards and 37 touchdowns.

And are Penix or Nix superior to Rattler? That is up for debate.

Rattler is a player who is projected to be selected in the second or third round of the draft. Rather, the Broncos ought to take advantage of his potential ceiling.
