The Miami Dolphins sign an undrafted defensive back after rookie minicamp.

Late last week, the Miami Dolphins called an end to their rookie minicamp, which featured numerous undrafted tryout players in addition to all seven of their 2024 NFL Draft selections.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, one of those athletes, Jason Maitre of the University of Wisconsin, has agreed to join the Dolphins’ 90-man roster.

Maitre played six seasons of collegiate football, five with Boston College and his sixth and final season as a starter with the Wisconsin Badgers. He is a nickel cornerback with safety versatility.

The 5’10” defensive back had four interceptions during his time in college, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

After playing on both sides of the ball at Everett High School, Maitre was ranked as the sixth best prospect from Massachusetts. He scored three touchdowns on the ground, two touchdowns on punt returns, nine touchdown receptions, and even one kickoff return touchdown during his senior year. In his senior year of high school, he completed his defensive career with four interceptions.

Following Miami’s rookie minicamp, Maitre and Ireland Brown, a former interior offensive lineman for Rutgers, are the only players (as of yet) signed.
