It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles have decided on head coach Nick Sirianni.

It appears that Sirianni will return to the Eagles as head coach, despite the team’s disappointing 2023 campaign.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini provided the details of Sirianni’s status. Sirianni and General Manager Howie Roseman are actively planning to add a few more coordinators and coaches to the team, according to a Russini story on Wednesday.

In order to assess possible coordinator candidates to join their coaching staff as they prepare for the 2024 season, “both Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman and Head Coach Nick Sirianni have been reaching out to available NFL coaches and coordinators, as well as coaching agents across the league,” Russini said on X.

Working together to strengthen the team’s coaching staff, Roseman and Sirianni seem to be indicating that Sirianni will return.

For three seasons, Sirianni has led the Eagles as their head coach. In his debut season, the squad finished 9-8 and fell in the playoffs’ Wild Card Round. But they won the Super Bowl and finished 14-3 the previous year. The Eagles started the season 10-1 this year before faltering and dropping their final seven games. Following the awful conclusion, many in the media speculated—and some even demanded—that the Eagles fire their head coach. It appears that won’t take place.

In the end, the Eagles might believe that their squad was hurt by losing both of their coordinators after winning the Super Bowl. Former defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon was hired as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, and former offensive coordinator Shane Steichen was hired as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. In an attempt to improve things, the Eagles even changed the defensive coaching staff towards the end of the season, but it didn’t appear to have the desired effect.

The coordinator losses are a major issue for the Eagles, according to ESPN analyst Troy Aikman, who brought up the subject after Monday night’s playoff loss to the Bucs. Maybe he was repeating ideas that Sirianni and/or Roseman had expressed to him.
