GM Brandon Beane gave a post-draft update on the Buffalo Bills’ ability to spend money after taking several steps to address the team’s salary cap issues.
The Buffalo Bills now have the smallest amount of wiggle room despite being salary cap compliant.

In the unlikely event that Buffalo decides to add a veteran before Week 1, the deal must be cap-friendly. The Bills won’t be able to add a sizable salary in 2024, which means they won’t be able to compete for top players like Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers.
“Our cap is our cap,” NFL Draft winner Brandon Beane of the Bills declared after last week’s selection. “There won’t be a deal if you’re hoping for something significant or similar. Not at all like that. Although I am aware that everyone associates us with each and every trade made in the league, no.”
Though there’s not much room, the Bills are neither in dire straits nor in danger of going over the league’s spending cap.

Beane declared, “We’re in pretty good shape.” “Listen, if there’s an opportunity to add someone, that makes sense, yes, we’d do that.”

When cornerback Tre’Davious White’s post-June 1 cut designation registers, the Bills will earn an additional $10 million in salary cap relief. However, the entire amount of this relief will not be available to be used towards new players.
“We’re under $3 million [of salary cap space],” stated Beane. “You have to sign the draft selections, put money aside for replacements, and when you trim down to 53 players, there is actually less room left. In August and early September of last year, we had to make sure we had about $4 million [in cap space]. It’s currently ranked as the Top 51 [players on the roster], but your Practice Squad counts in addition to your 53.”
