Following his selection by the Bills as the first player off the board in the second round of last week’s NFL Draft in Detroit, Keon Coleman is headed for the bright lights of Buffalo.

However, Coleman is expected to hit the golf course to work on his swing and decompress a little before he dives headfirst into Sean McDermott’s playbook and runs out at Highmark Stadium in September.
In a pre-draft meeting with Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and some of his staff, the 20-year-old said that his hobbies outside of football were playing golf, bowling, and lounging at home.
Coleman, who is quickly gaining recognition for having a keen sense of humour, explained that although he enjoys competition, his primary ability is probably going to be pass reception.

When Brady questioned Coleman about his hobbies, the wide receiver replied, “I like to chill at home, play golf, and bowl a little bit.” The Florida State graduate added, pressing on the golf aspect of his response, “I ain’t no… I am not Tiger Woods; I am Tiger Wish-He-Could.”Wish I could putt and perform all those tasks. I’m not shooting five under like those guys out there. I could need five minutes to enter it. But I’m going to go enjoy myself.”

Coleman, who spent two years at Michigan State before transferring to Florida State, has probably played golf for a while because he is aware of the frustrations associated with the game.
“It’s controlled chaos,” he went on. It’s frustrating, but you can’t lose your cool and strain your back while attempting to smash the ball, so I have to keep my composure and just swing. Simply enjoy yourself.”

Coleman is just one of many NFL players who like to play golf when they’re not on the practice field. Other well-known players who enjoy the game include Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes is such a fan of the game that he constructed a par-3 course at his Kansas City home, and Rodgers returned from an ACL injury last year and carded an Ace in his first round.

In the meanwhile, Tony Romo, a former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and current CBS pundit, occasionally tees it up in PGA Tour pro-am or Champions events, earning a spot in 2022 for his first USGA major.

‘Tiger Wish-He-Could’ might end up playing alongside the man himself someday if the new Bills wide receiver has a career comparable to those icons.
