A rumored price for Justin Jefferson could have a direct impact on CeeDee Lamb.
As if that weren’t motivation enough to want to work out a deal with Lamb (he and the team are apparently not close), there’s also the market at his position, which appears to be on the edge of bursting.
Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Amon-Ra St. Brown are just a few names seeking to make a lot of money. The Philadelphia Eagles, who are well-versed in football finances, realize that closing deals early is usually how you save money in the long run, and signed DeVonta Smith this week.

A reported AAV for Justin Jefferson certainly impacts CeeDee Lamb
At the moment, Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins has the highest AAV of any wide receiver, at $30 million. It is safe to assume that this will alter in a matter of seconds.
Lamb was expected to sign an agreement that would pay him $30 million per year, according to a previous offseason forecast. That seems unlikely considering that the current going rate is $30 million and these transactions are typically a “the next guy gets a little bit more” deal, but anything is conceivable.
assuming another wideout beats Lamb to the punch, you can bet your bottom dollar (assuming you haven’t already put it in the Pay CeeDee Lamb Fund) that his price will rise. On Thursday. Dianna Russini of The Athletic said in their newsletter “Scoop City” that Justin Jefferson might earn $32 million per year.
Living in a hypothetical scenario in which this occurs, the likelihood of locking Lamb down to $30 million per year has decreased.

This is why we keep reiterating how important it is for the Cowboys to get this done. In a world where Jefferson goes first and earns an AAV of $32 million, Lamb will not be the only receiver with counsel upping their own price. Ja’Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, and the rest of the group will all tear up the offer sheet with yesterday’s price because the situation will have altered.
You cannot make a sensible argument against taking care of CeeDee Lamb as soon as possible, especially given the probable volatility in his position market. If you believe the organization should extend Dak Prescott, this is a very important scenario, but there aren’t as many quarterbacks who have the potential to increase the price floor this summer as there are wide receivers.
