Potential Pittsburgh Steelers trade target Tyler Lockett does not want to be moved after restructuring his contract.

With three-fifths of the team’s room from 2023 going on, including starters Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson II, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a big need at wide receiver.

The Steelers have added a player who is expected to start this season, let alone two, despite their recent success in finding receivers Quez Watkins and Van Jefferson on one-year contracts.

At the position, the team has been actively scouting candidates from the 2024 NFL Draft; however, general manager Omar Khan and associates have also expressed interest in more seasoned alternatives. Before Mike Williams signed a contract with the New York Jets, the Steelers had a meeting arranged with the free agent wide receiver. They discussed contract details with Tyler Boyd, a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals, and explored the possibility of trading Brandon Aiyuk to the San Francisco 49ers.
It is evident that they have big expectations for the position’s additions.

But the conversation has soured. Williams is not on the team. According to one source, Boyd and the Steelers are at a standstill over terms, and for the Pitt product and native of Clairton, the “ship has sailed” on his return home. The 49ers have made it clear that they will not be dealing with Aiyuk.

It’s obvious that the Steelers were interested in players in the draft as well as adding a receiver prior to the draft. What will they do instead, since the draft is in two weeks and the pre-draft acquisition doesn’t seem likely?
