The Pittsburgh Steelers are already looking better than they did last season They haven’t yet begun their offseason preparations, but many believe they may be a surprise dark horse in the AFC.

That’s what happens when you switch from Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Mitch Trubisky to Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Still, as good as the Steelers should be next season, they need additional passing weapons to make a statement in one of football’s most competitive divisions.

That’s why the front staff is apparently going to tremendous measures to get an exceptional receiver to their roster.

According to Denver Broncos insider Ryan Edwards, the Steelers are pursuing Brandon Aiyuk (via Benjamin Allbright).
Aiyuk is apparently unhappy with his place in the San Francisco 49ers’ offense, and he fueled speculation of a trade to Pittsburgh after he tweeted to coach Mike Tomlin about their likeness.

As talented as Aiyuk is, his role in the offense is likely to remain same as long as Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle are in town.

In Pittsburgh, on the other hand, he could play either WR1 or WR2 opposite George Pickens, and he may be signed to an extension.

Aiyuk is coming off a second-team All-Pro season and will not be simple to sign, but the Steelers should look into all avenues to complete this transaction.
