Tiger Woods had wildly divergent Masters experiences over the course of the last twenty-four hours. On Saturday, he shot his lowest round of the tournament at Augusta National.

At the storied Georgia course on Friday, the 16-time major winner created history by surpassing golf greats Fred Couples and Gary Player for the record of the most consecutive Masters cuts made, with 24.
The 48-year-old accomplished this amazing feat despite competing in just two tournaments this year. His eagerly anticipated return to the PGA Tour in February forced him to withdraw early from the Genesis Invitational, forcing him to make up for a delayed start to round one on Thursday.

In the end, Woods finished with a first-round score of 63 before going one better in the second to easily make the cut and enter the weekend at one-over par, seven shots off the midway lead. Woods won four Masters titles between 1997 and 2005 before taking home another Green Jacket in spectacular fashion in 2019.

That raised doubts about whether he could possibly play his way into contention in a potential rematch of that incredible 2019 charge, but regrettably, what happened on Saturday was the worst round in Woods’ illustrious and lengthy Masters history.
