No one knows what to expect when it comes to the Buffalo Bills heading into the 2024 NFL season. After trading away star wide receiver Stefon Diggs and losing wideout Gabriel Davis in free agency, the Bills’ offense took a major hit. They weren’t able to make any major moves to add talent to their roster either.

Along with the two wide receivers leaving town, the defense may have lost star safety Micah Hyde. He is considering retirement. However, if he does decide to play football, he has made it clear that he would only play for the Bills.

It’s been a rough offseason of change in Buffalo. After looking like a potential Super Bowl contender last season, they fell short once again.

Now, they could be forced to make another move or two due to their cap situation prior to the 2024 season.

Buffalo Bills Could Make Big Move To Cut Longtime NFL Star

Bleacher Report recently suggested that the Buffalo Bills could consider cutting veteran pass-rusher Von Miller to create cap space. They explained their reasoning behind suggesting that move.

“Von Miller is the most significant [move]. Parting with him would require eating $23.3 million in dead cap, but trading him after June 1 would offer the best cap savings return. They could clear $8.8 million. Miller, 35, was no longer a starter for the Bills last season and didn’t register a single sack. They would still have a solid three-man rotation with Greg Rousseau, A.J. Epenesa and Dawuane Smoot. There are still a few more vets on the market such as Yannick Ngakoue and Markus Golden who would be available for less than $8.8 million.”

Moving on from Miller would be a tough decision, but it would make sense. Miller is no longer the elite star pass-rusher that he once was.

As the snippet of the article stated, Miller did not have much of an impact for the Buffalo Bills last season.

When everything was said and done in 2023, Miller ended up playing in 12 games. He recorded just three total tackles to go along with no other stats of note. Those numbers simply aren’t worth keeping him around for the amount of money that he’s making.

While it’s a disappointing finish to what has been an amazing career, the Buffalo Bills should release him. Saving that kind of cap space that can be used to improve the team would be valuable. Miller’s presence doesn’t add much at this point in time.

It will be interesting to see what the Bills choose to do before the 2024 season. Even though Miller is a great locker room presence, they should release him and save some money in the process.
