Prior to a summer transfer, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United has been given a £100 million price tag.

That’s according to reports after the No. 10 played somewhat of an unremarkable game on Saturday away to Bournemouth. The England international finished as Manchester United’s top scorer the previous campaign, but he has only scored seven goals in 31 games this time around, making him a less effective player.

The new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, will be eager to make huge sales as the Red Devils prepare for a summer makeover. With multiple prominent players underperforming, there may be some unexpected departures.
According to The Mirror, United is willing to sell a player who is possibly the most marketable and well-known at the team for a nine-figure sum, while Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly looking to replace departing player Kylian Mbappe.
Although Rashford has been a member of United since he joined the team as a young player in 2005, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo reportedly claimed that Rashford had negotiated terms with Barcelona. This implied that the 26-year-old might be open to taking on a new challenge overseas. FourFourTwo believes that Rashford would benefit from a fresh start because his relationship with some fans has become toxic. This could be the closest Rashford has ever been to leaving, and Ratcliffe is undoubtedly ruthless enough to consider selling an academy product if Rashford isn’t what Old Trafford needs.

Even though Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, and other international teammates all regard United’s talisman forward highly, it’s possible that a £100 million sale is unrealistic.

The forward’s value has decreased over the last 12 months—he only inked a new contract last year that would keep him in Manchester until 2028—and this season, his off-ball shortcomings have come to light. Few teams could afford Rashford, let alone at the amount that has been cited; therefore, United may need to lower the asking price to persuade PSG or another Premier League team to bite.
