Aiyuk recently received a message from a former teammate urging the top wide receiver for the 49ers to sign with the New England Patriots.
It is said that Aiyuk and the 49ers are not near in their pursuit of a long-term contract. Although the 49ers declared last month that they had no intention of trading Aiyuk, there have been rumors that the organization may begin to consider a trade near the 2024 NFL Draft.
Aiyuk is looking for compensation akin to that of a legitimate number-one receiver, which would come out to about $30 million annually. He is not yet considered by the 49ers to be a $30 million pass receiver. In the 2025 offseason, quarterback Brock Purdy will likely receive a contract extension, therefore the 49ers will need to accept the fact that they cannot retain all of their key players.
