This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles were pleased to sign running back Saquon Barkley, as well as wide receiver Parris Campbell. They both played for the New York Giants last year. Campbell seen Barkley’s abilities firsthand while playing for New York.

He praised Barkley and spoke strongly about him. Parris Campbell told Olivia Reiner of the Philadelphia Inquirer, “I think he’s going to show people why he’s the best running back in the league.” I know there is a lot of controversy between him and Christian McCaffrey. And don’t get me wrong: McCaffrey is by easily one of the league’s top running backs. But seeing Saquon up close and personal, being in the same locker room, on the same team, man, he’s a different kid on the field, to be honest.

And running behind that offensive line, I believe it will be quite terrifying for defenders. When you combine that with Jalen (Hurts) and what he can do with his feet in terms of extending plays and getting outside the pocket, I’m sure we’ll play some sort of read-option game and do some RPO stuff. So, the possibilities are unlimited.”

Barkley spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants. He was the second overall choice in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State, which was one of the reasons Saquon Barkley chose to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Last year, he rushed for 962 yards on 247 tries and six touchdowns, averaging 3.9 yards per attempt. Saquon Barkley also grabbed 41 receptions for 280 yards and four touchdowns, with an average of 6.8 yards per catch. He has 60 targets in 14 games last season.

Many New York Giants supporters had mixed feelings when Barkley left for the Eagles. Many of them were angry that he chose to play for Philadelphia, which is an NFC East opponent. If he had gone to another NFL team, they would not have treated him poorly. Saquon Barkley will be determined to prove his doubters wrong next season.
