Coach Frank Vogel said before the game that standout guard Bradley Beal of the Phoenix Suns will miss tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks due to stiffness in his left hamstring.

Vogel said, “It seems unlikely that Beal will play tomorrow against the Houston Rockets,” citing Tim MacMahon of ESPN as the original source. Beal was initially rated as dubious.

The Suns’ first game following the break will be this one. Beal was not there for the Suns’ most recent game, which they won 116-100 against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Gordon started that game with 13 points.

Beal sustained the injury in the first quarter of last Tuesday’s victory over the Sacramento Kings and did not play again.

Beal underwent a nose operation to treat his nasal fracture that occurred on January 26 during the break in addition to the hamstring issue. Vogel stated yesterday that even after the procedure, Beal will still have a protective mask on his nose when he gets back. In 30 games this season, Beal is averaging 18.2 points on 49.5% shooting, 4.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds.

Thaddeus Young, the Suns’ newest addition, will also be available for the first time tonight. Vogel stated that “we’ll see” if Young plays against the Mavericks.

Damion Lee is the only other Suns’ player out after undergoing right meniscus surgery this offseason.

Mavericks
The Suns and Irving will play the Mavericks (32-23), who have won six straight, for the first time tonight.

Originally classified as probable for Dallas, Doncic (broken nose), Dereck Lively II (nasal fracture), and Maxi Kleber (nasal fracture) are all available.

With right knee bursitis, Dante Exum is the sole Mavericks player sidelined.

This season, Phoenix has faced Dallas once, losing 132-109 on the road to start the Phoenix offense.
